A year, a very colorful year is coming to its end. It’s a good time to reflect back on the achievements and look forward towards year 2015.
Year 2014 has been the best one in the Tregren’s 4 year history. The strategy that we set out to implement 20 months ago has thru hard and focused work enabled us to meet the set targets, our growth has been over 200%/year and we now operate with a profitability close to 20%. Tregren is today a million euro company on its way for our next milestone, to become a 10 million euro company.
The past year has been a year of innovative new products and of geographical expansion in Europe. There are many things that our team has achieved which I could highlight. I’m especially proud that GENIE Kitchen Garden has won the GOOD DESIGN ® Award 2014*. This is a proof of our long term commitment to functional design. Second thing that I would like to highlight is our new product concepts are offering new the world innovations in the field of urban gardening that are in the process of being patented. These innovations will be launched in the coming year. Last but not least is our growing network of importers across Europe that is generating increasing sales revenues. This year we have had months when over 50% of our sales is coming from outside Finland.
We, our partners and our employees, should take pride in the fact that we have been able to reach both the hard and the soft targets defined in our strategy. I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their contribution of reaching these tough targets.
Year 2014 has also been a painful year for us, pain however isn’t always a bad thing. The rapid growth have forced us to streamline our operations much earlier and faster than anticipated. This has been necessary but painful process, but now we are geared for the next rapid growth cycle. The tough economic climate has add some extra challenges and forced us to put more focus on optimizing our cost structure to secure our profitability targets. So pain in this case is a good thing.
Year 2015 , will be a year of multidimensional expansion. We have already our minds set on next year’s activities and are eagerly waiting to take on the new challenges. The main objective is to continue on the same path of profitable growth as this year. To meet our ambitious growth targets a well-executed expansion on all activity areas will be crucial for success. The focus areas are the same as this year, launching new products, open new markets and improve our operating model to allow for flexibility while improving our profitability.
Today everything point to the direction that year 2015 will be the best year in Tregren’ s history.
